If you’ve followed us for any time, you probably know Mark is a Pizza junky. While he tends to be a bit of a Pizza purest, he has tried some variations of Pizza in most places we’ve traveled.

Our First Night In Charleston
After checking into our Charleston Airbnb, we decided to take a walk over to King Street and get some air and grab a bite to eat. We had nothing particular in mind, but our goal was to explore something local.
Right after turning onto King Street was wandered past Uptown Social. It looked pretty lively on the rooftop deck, while the main bar offered us the place to ourselves.
Uptown Social
587 King Street
Charleston, SC 29403
We were seated at a high-top table in the middle of the room. This allowed us to take in the eclectic décor mixing high ceilings with embossed tiles to stained glass, funky artwork, and a dozen or so TV screens with sporting events.

Our Kind of Menu
The menu was as eclectic as the décor. Uptown Social offers a beautiful selection of beer and wine alongside some signature cocktails with names like ‘The Barstool Transfusion,’ ‘Gone With The Gin,’ and the ‘Oh Spritz.’
Chuck picked one of the Draft Beers, and Mark went with the ‘Marg Meets Mojito’ made with Don Julio, Fresh Mint, Simple Syrup, and a wedge of Lime. This is a cocktail in their ‘Large Format Cocktail’ section. These are typically 32 ounces, made with premium liquor, and designed for 2-3 people. But, they were able to make a single serving.

The rest of the menu is an excellent mix of Wings, ‘Social Sharings,’ Salads, and Sammies alongside an extensive selection of Crispy Bar Pies.
Crispy Bar Pies AKA Pizza
In creating this section of the menu, the owners of Uptown Social brought in Brooklyn Pizza legend, Anthony “Pizza Czar” Falco!
His consulting company works with businesses around the globe to design pizzas for their menu. There were approximately a dozen Thin and Crispy Bar Pies along with a ‘Create Your Own’ option. These were delicious, perfectly crispy pies with super-thin crusts.
Chuck went with The Buffalo Chix. This twist on a Buffalo Chicken Pizza had a Calabrian Chili Tomato Sauce, Aged Mozzarella Cheese, Fresh Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded Chicken, Red Onion, Buffalo Aioli, Parsley and Chives. It was easily as good as the best Buffalo Pizza Chuck had ever had.

Mark went WAY out on a limb and tried the Wake N Bacon, a Pizza featured on Food Paradise! It was a creation mixing Sausage Gravy, Aged Mozzarella, Egg, Breakfast Sausage, Twice Smoked Bacon, Herbs, and Grana Padano. And, it was RIDICULOUSLY GOOD!

It was Smoky and Salty, it was Cheesy, and the Egg was just a touch runny. Cold Pizza has always been a breakfast favorite of Mark’s, but this took breakfast Pizza to a new level! And, probably excellent hangover food, too!
Uptown Social
In addition to incredible bar food, we’ve seen social media posts for live music on their rooftop deck, brunch, holiday events, and even yoga classes. They’ve got a lot going on!
Uptown Social is a not-to-be-missed location when visiting Charleston, South Carolina!
