Our Stay at the Disneyland Hotel Paris

In our previous blog post, we talked about getting to Disneyland Paris, the Disney Hotel options, and a bit about the parks there.

In this blog, we’re jumping in with the hotel we chose, the Disneyland Hotel, as well as our room and the amenities.

 

The Disneyland Hotel

We knew from the beginning of planning that we would be staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Period.

We’re both in our sixties, and this visit is at the end of a three-week river cruise and group tour. 

The Disneyland Hotel is very Grand Floridian for anyone who’s been to Walt Disney World. 

The grand architecture inside and out is very posh, for lack of a better word. It is truly like stepping into a storybook. The artwork is styled around castles and princesses.

A grand staircase sits at one end of the lobby, a massive fireplace sits beyond the reception desks, and a really unique crystal chandelier hangs in the center of the room.

 

The public spaces and guest rooms have immersive touches, such as twinkling lights and hidden Mickeys throughout. And, we loved the gardens surrounding the hotel.

 

 

The best part is that you leave through an exit behind the grand staircase, and you are at a park access. Yes, staying in the hotel means you’ve already been through security, so you show your pass, and you’re in the park.

And did we mention that guests entering the park walk directly under the hotel?

 

 

First In, Last Out

Being right at the entrance to Disneyland Park is a huge plus. 

We were able to use Extra Magic Hours to get in early, come back to the room in the middle of the day to chill out, and head back into the park for late-night snacks, people-watching, and the fireworks show at the end of the night.

 

 

The Disneyland Hotel is the hub of the Disneyland Paris experience. We were close enough to walk to Disney Adventure World, the train station, and Disney Village.

 

Checking In

Arriving at the private hotel entrance, we were dropped right at the door, our bags were taken right away, and stored until our room was ready. 

 

 

We knew we were arriving very early, but because of our booking we’d have access to the park as soon as we arrived.

Cast Members were friendly and very helpful. For no one’s fault but our own, it took a little while to check in. But we finally got our passes and immediately set off to explore the park. 

Returning to the hotel in the afternoon, we hadn’t received a message about our room but were able to get our room assignment from the front desk.

 

True Confession:

Initially, when we booked the reservation, we included the Disney Express Luggage Transfer. This would have collected our luggage at the train station, checked us in, issued our passes, and delivered our luggage to our room. When we booked our car service directly to the hotel and not the train, we confused the system.

 

Our Disneyland Hotel Room

For our stay, we booked a four-night stay with park tickets in a Superior Room with a Terrace.

The room was comfortable, with plenty of space to spread out, and featured a spacious, well-appointed bathroom. Truth be told, we’d have preferred not to have to climb into the tub to shower, but we’re used to it.

 

The decor had princess touches, from the artwork to the wallpaper and furniture motifs. This carried through into the frame of the enormous bathroom mirror.

 

The mirror in the main living space concealed a giant smart TV, which was a nice touch.

In addition to a stocked minibar, the room had a wonderful “Tea Chest” next to the desk. Inside were the coffee maker and kettle. Underneith os a drawer filled with cups, glasses, spoons, creamers, and sugar.

 

 

Additionally, at night, we received a sweet treat of poppy-flavored nougat, Disney’s exclusive “Palais Floral Herbal Tea,” and a note explaining what the treats were and their allergen content.

 

 

Lastly, the terrace. It was a nice touch, but we sat outside only a few times. Our garden faces out toward the park entrance fountain and garden. However, they did a wonderful job creating a natural barrier that made it feel very private.

 

 

Our Experience 

We truly have zero complaints about the Cast Members of the accommodations at the hotel. The room was immaculate, the housekeeping crew was efficient and polite, and everything got restocked daily.

The lobby always had ample seating, and it was fun to see families with small children meeting princesses on the grand staircase.

We opted not to use our option to schedule a time for a princess meet-and-greet. You could actually have one per day if the time were available.

With a ground-floor room, we had just a short walk down the hallway to reach the exit behind the stairs and enter the park, or head left to wander the rest of the properties.

Wi-Fi was excellent throughout the hotel, and the gift shop was huge and well-stocked, offering Disneyland Hotel-specific merchandise.

We didn’t use the indoor pool or the spa; both were quite a walk from where we stayed, and we really wanted to explore the parks.

 

Airport Transfer

We added the airport transfer from Disneyland Paris to Charles de Gaulle Airport for the end of our trip.

The cost was $53.97 for the two of us. With a later flight, we were able to schedule a pickup time and enjoy our morning in the park on our last day.

The shuttle was on time when it picked us up at the Disneyland Hotel. However, the driver literally opened the cargo bay and waved for us to put our luggage inside. We expected a little more from Disney.
