After lunch at the Sarvona Lion Hill Game Lodge we headed out to Lake Nakuru, located in the Rift Valley and is protected by Lake Nakuru National Park. We were on a quest to find a white rhino, and our guide did not disappoint us. On our search, we came across some other furry and feathered creatures. Below is a panoramic of Lake Nakuru.

Lake Nakuru is known for the large flamboyance of flamingos. Although we did see quite a few, we were expecting to see a lot more based on our research.

During this drive, we saw the plains zebra, identified by the stripes continuing under the belly.

We also came across a Rothschild giraffe mother with a baby. What’s interesting about the markings is the baby looks like a Rothschild and the mother is so much darker, almost like a Maasai giraffe.

Here are some of the other animals and birds we saw during our quest for the white rhino.

Yusuf our safari guide spotted a white rhino in the distance and positioned the jeep in front of where they were heading and we were able to see a good number of them. Mixed in were zebra, gazelles, birds, and warthogs. Big 5 #4…..check

Time was up for this game drive and we started our bumpy ride to the Great Rift Valley Lodge, or as our guide says it’s massage time.
Fantastic pictures!
