I realized while looking at this mornings pics that I forgot to post pics of Big 5 #2, the Cheetah. These pics were shot during the afternoon drive the day before. Now this was a sighting that got everyone excited and it’s belly was full from a recent kill. In the second pic you can see the white legs and the red carcass. I seem to have missed a few other pics from this drive; giraffes, monkeys and zebras. The drives are all blending together, this is what happens when you don’t keep up with blogging.. lol
Our last game drive in Samburu National Reserve started at 7AM again, which meant up at 6 and breakfast at 6:30.
First up was Pumbaa the warthog. These guys are so ugly they are cute.
This beautiful creature is the Gemsbok or also known as the Oryx Gazella.
Next up were the Reticulated Giraffes. There were so many we lost count.
This morning we were fortunate to see another cheetah. They are absolutely gorgeous. I love the cats so this was another moment of joy, they are so majestic.
I had horrible success in capturing a good pic of the ostrich, but at least I got one.
And the highlight of the afternoon was seeing a female leopard with 2 cubs. The pics with the cubs were blurry, but I was still able to capture the mother. The large zoom lens worked great for closeups but was a thorn in my side at times when trying to balance with everyone jockeying for pics. Should have practiced more, but still awesome to see. They literally walked right next to the Jeep.
These cats deserve their own blog, but I’ll just share some of my favorites. The pic with 2 of them is the only decent shot I got with a cub. Big 5 #3…..check.
Amazing photos!
