A day alone – great Pacific Northwest food and Pike Place Market are the perfect storm for me..
I arrived in Seattle ahead of Chuck and my siblings so I checked in and headed downtown to Pike Place Market.
This awesome market is actually a combination of several marketplaces, local shops and alleys filled with stores right on the waterfront in down town Seattle.

The biggest obstacles for me where not being able to buy things that I wasn’t able to take on the ship. Things like fresh produce, seafood, cheeses, flowers….and not being able to fit much more in the suitcase (yet).

So I began ‘tasting’ my way through the market- Beecher’s Cheeses for their amazing Mac and cheese. Homemade sharp cheddar, wonderfully sharp and creamy!

City seafood for Dungeness Crab cocktails (really sweet and briney), mini donuts (sweet, tender and chewey), chocolate covered local cherries with Cabernet reductionand dark chocolate.

Next up was cheesecake from the Confectional – I had heard about their quadruple chocolate so I got that for Chuck, I also got chocolate peanut butter and they seasonal key lime and I ate a mini red velvet.
Really dense, creamy and lots of chocolate flavor.

Next down the block was Pieroshky – kind of a hand pie in both sweet and savory with all kinds of fillings. I did beef and cheddar. Flakey and delicious; sort of like a gourmet hot pocket.

I did the obligatory things like going by the original Starbucks ( huge lines and not a huge fan); pet the pig (think Strawbridge and Clothier and Florence Italy).

I, being a cheese junky, headed back to Beecher’s for a grilled cheese sandwich – ok, but not as god as the mac and cheese..

All in all a great day, I missed a couple things – the lines at the chowder place wrapped around the block and I skipped pizza (hard to believe) but there were too many amazing things to eat.
Today, we head to the port to board the ship!
