We’re working hard now that we are back to report on our travels in Thailand, share pictures and suggestions as LOTS of people have asked about our experience, things we did, the fantastic value, and the travel company we used.
The first hotel we stayed at was the Aetas Lumpini Hotel – located right across from the beautiful Lumpini Park, it was an excellent location for us. The hotel very lovely with amazingly friendly staff, modern amenities, comfortable and close to most of the things we wanted to do.
It really seemed to be a great location – we were able to walk to banks to exchange money, 7-11 (a Thai MUST), as well as lots of local restaurants and street vendors. The park across the street is beautiful and relaxing, and you are just a block from the subway.
Great public areas with an outdoor smoking area and infinity pool overlooking the city. We enjoyed some time with a tour group meet and greet in an event space on the top floor and cocktail in the lounge on an upper floor.
The rooms were great and well-appointed. Very comfortable and really affordable.
Wonderful views from our room and the rooftop areas.
Chuck and I ate dinner there one night on our own – dinner included a soup, salad, bread, and dessert buffet. if ordered on its own was 220 Thai Baht (about $6.35 US).
Chuck ordered the Chicken green curry-
I went for the lamb chops with squid ink pasta and sauteed greens with a deep rich brown curry. Really well prepared, nice size portion and about $15.00 US including the salad bar.
Obviously hotel restaurant food is a little more expensive than street food but still a great value.
We also had a tour group dinner in the hotel which was really delicious too and a great sharing of typical Thai food.
We highly recommend this hotel, we returned there for our last night in Thailand and just can’t say enough good things.
