Hotel Xcaret Arte received its name because of its focus on the arts of Mexico. And we kid you not, they hit every note with the collection of spectacular art.
From sculptures to murals, woodcarving and unique exhibits, Arte has truly nailed it.
Welcome to Hotel Xcaret Arte
If you are a loyal follower, you may have seen a few of these pieces in our previous posts.
Arte is a good distance back of the main road. And the private roads wind around and turn off to some of the group’s parks. Everything is beautifully landscaped and along the way you pass some unique water features.

As you pull up to the front of the resort you want to look to your left, You’ll find this crazy Rolls Royce. The paint job on this is classic Mexican line work similar to what you may find in beautiful handcrafted pottery.

Its our understanding that some of the artwork exhibits at Hotel Xcaret Arte change seasonally. But, at the time we visited, the main entrance was filled with some eerie, kind of dark sculptures. They were kind of haunting, part animal part human, alien looking with many mythical looking features.
The Event Center
To the far right of the main entrance is a second entrance that seems to go to an event center. Inside the entrance is a Starbuck’s like coffee shop, with drinks and snacks included in your package. Immediately outside that shop are these two incredible, mostly wooden cars.

Just beyond that area is a domed brick ceiling with a giant sphere made of musical instruments.

A long corridor connects the event center to the main resort. At the beginning of the hallway there are glass doors that lead to a terrace. These fanciful sculptures are hung on a mirrored wall.

Outside on the terrace overlooking Hotel Xcaret Arte is an art installation that doubles as one of many of the resorts photo spots. The seat is constructed of hundreds and hundreds of colorful mixed media flowers.

Back inside on the corridor are several mixed media heart sculptures along with angel wings and a Frida Kahlo quote.
Leaving the Lobby
Leaving the Lobby of Hotel Xcaret you’ll head down a long flight of stairs toward the infinity pool, the sea and several of the Casas.
The walls of the casas to your right and left are dressed in beautiful murals. The first is very indigenous looking, almost monochromatic with a few pops of bright purple. To the left done in a similar style is a coati, one of our favorite animals.Â
We love the way they incorporated plants, stonework and sculptures into the area with murals as well.
The next piece is a long metal and stone sculpture in one of the resorts reflecting pools. They look to be a flamboyance of flamingoes. {Yes, that’s actually what a ‘flock’ of flamingoes is called. And, it’s such a fun word.} They look like they are taking flight and when the wind blows the ripples on the water add to the magic!
Taking A Swim
Just outside of our suite was the swim up bar, with the main infinity pool. The views surrounding the pool are amazing.Â
However, the artwork they chose around the pool and leading out to the beach was spectacular. They were a unique mix of sculptures that gave you something to see at every turn.
Cayuco and the Public Restrooms
Hotel Xcaret Arte restaurant Cayuco was also located in the same area. The walls outside of the fish themed restaurant were lined with awesome rustic wooden sculptures of fish.
The public restrooms there had two amazing sculptures just outside the door and the masks (his and hers) were unique with faces incorporated into turtles.
And, just beyond the bathrooms were incredible wood carvings. We really wish these would fit in our suitcases.

Into The Pool
Over near Casa Musica was a long water feature, down near the gym.
The water features was lined with bubbling fountains and several magnificent sculptures of male swimmers doing acrobatics.

The detail and form of these bodies was insane. Walking up on them quickly you might expect them to move.
Outside of the Gym
Just outside of the gym, set against the windows, was a row of sculptures of indigenous woman.
They were a stark contrast to the wild masks displayed on the pillars across from the sculptures.
A Day at The Spa
We opted not to spend any time at the spa. There were just two many things we wanted to do and see at the resorts parks.
But one morning we tool a walk down the path that leads to the spa. The downhill, spiral walkway was lined with herbs, local fruit trees and some vegetables. At the bottom of the walkway was this interesting sculptural water feature. The paved area was encircled by these balls carved in stone.
Another part of the walkway had this interesting sculpture surrounded by fruit trees.

Just outside of the spa were several small sitting areas filled with unique woven lanterns, hand crafted chairs, and magnificent wood carvings of tortoises.
Everywhere You Look
Literally everywhere you look there are spectacular sculptures. As you may have seen in our blog about the Casas, the artwork wasn’t limited to sculptures. There were musical instruments, textiles and pottery.
The gardens are magnificent and they dotted them, with fun sculptures that often paired with the location.
Let’s Go To The Cinema
At the time we were visiting there was an outstanding exhibition of vintage Mexican film. Exceptionally displayed movie posters, vintage film equipment and even movie screenings were part of the art of cinema installation.
Xcaret absolutely put the ART in Xcaret Arte and it extended to every restaurant, garden, public area and guest suite!
We can’t wait for you to see more!
