Eros Nehru Place – Delhi India

Posted on March 7, 2020 by Mark And Chuck's Adventures

One of the things we have both really enjoyed regarding our Gate 1 Travel vacations have been the accommodations.

The hotels are always pretty upscale, they are clean, we have always found the staff to be super accomodating and one of the most important thins for us is that they are close to local shops or attractions to be able to experience the local neighbors in our free time.

The Eros New Delhi  – Nehru Place was our first hotel in India and has been right there with other hotels on previous trips.

Because of the Coronavirus, India and the hotel have been very cautious – lots of masks on employees screening arriving guests, lots of hand sanitizer and taking the temperature of everyone entering the building.

We arrived at about 2:15 am after several long flights and arrival process – so needless to say we crashed into bed and forgot to take pictures of the room. It was clean, modern and well-appointed and the bed and pillows were some of the best we have experienced traveling.

The hotel itself and the grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed our breakfasts and dinner the first night with our group at the hotel buffet which has a HUGE selection combining India and western foods.

We were also within walking distance of a large electronics shopping district as well as Nehru Place metro station.

The metro station has an incredible food court called Epicuria with about 20 quick-service restaurants. You simply purchase a credit-like card and use it at any of the kiosks – ranging from KFC and Dominoes with interesting Indian selections to local cuisines.

We tried a vegetarian place called Sona Sweets and shared a Tandoori Platter and a bottle of water as we were headed off a food tour later that evening.

The platter included: Stuffed Kulcha{a stuffed flatbread}, Dal Makhani {a lentil dish}, Paneer Tikka {an incredible cottage cheese dish}, Dahi Kebab {a spiced cheese dish} and a Hara Kebob {very similar to falafal} with Pickled Onions and Mint Chutney.

The entire platter was delicious well made and was 268INR or about $3.62 with the large bottle of water costing $.62!

We had a little cash left on our swipe card so we each had a cup of ice cream for 76INR each or $1.03.
